Gold, Pennsylvania was the center of the universe for a brief time on February 20, 2006.  Billy Majot baked two Cakes! Everybody loved the celebration, staying inside the Gold General Store at Gold, Pennsylvania. Then, promptly at 12 noon, everyone went outside and shouted at the top of their voices, "Hoody Hoo" to scare Old Man Winter away.. At right, Shirley Leete is in the foreground as the George Morley band tunes up for some good ol' fashioned hoedown music lasting through the afternoon.

JAt left, John Rigas chatting with Betty Tomak, who founded Hoody Hoo Day. At right, Betty  interviews Amy Jacoby on WFRM.  Betty's the former owner of the Gold General Store; Amy's the new one. No, she's not holding a cigarette in her mouth; it's a light in the background.

Everyone had a great time, and Old Man Winter was really scared away.  News media reported on Hoody Hoo Day halfway around the world in Australia, as well as in Canada.
